The Commonwealth Prac Payment is designed to alleviate the financial pressures associated with unpaid placements. Program guidelines are currently being developed by the Department of Education in collaboration with education providers.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for the Commonwealth Prac Payment if you are:
- A domestic Chisholm student enrolled in a Chisholm Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma of Nursing.
- Completing a mandatory placement as part of your course.
- Receiving a Centrelink payment or meeting the Government's "Need to work"

When is this available?
The Commonwealth Prac Payment will be introduced from 1 July, 2025. Payments are expected by late July 2025.
How much is available?
Eligible Chisholm nursing students undertaking mandatory placements may soon benefit from the Australian Government's Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) starting from 1 July 2025.
The payment is set at $331.65 per week (benchmarked to the single Austudy rate).
