The Self-Employment Assistance Program is funded by the Australian Federal Government and is aimed at assisting current and aspiring business owners, providing a range of support services to meet their needs of setting up or running a successful small business.

The Self‑Employment Assistance Program replaces the New Business Assistance with NEIS program as of 1 July 2022.

The program’s flexibility allows you, if eligible, to choose the support that best fits your needs to start or run a successful small business.

  • Exploring Self-Employment Workshops 
  • Small business training 
  • Help to develop a business plan 
  • Small business coaching 
  • Business health checks 
  • Business advice sessions

  • One-on-one business advice sessions and health checks, if eligible. 
  • Financial support while you start and run your business as part of small business coaching, if eligible. 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for Self-Employment Assistance Program you must:  

Personal eligibility 

  • be at least 15 years of age (or at least 18 years of age to access Small Business Coaching)
  • be an Australian citizen, holder of a permanent visa, or a nominated Visa Holder (including a New Zealand Special Category Visa, Temporary Protection Visa Holder, and a Safe Haven Visa Holder)
  • not be an undischarged bankrupt
  • meet any additional eligibility criteria specific to the Self-Employment Assistance service you have chosen.
  • Please note that Transcend are only contracted to provide support to participants in the South Eastern Melbourne and Peninsula region.
