Explore the magic of metal clay
This beginner-friendly course is the perfect way to explore the magic of metal clay – a material that looks and feels like clay, but transforms into real silver when fired!
Made from tiny particles of metal (like silver, bronze, or copper) mixed with water and non-toxic binders, metal clay can be sculpted, stamped, textured, or pressed into molds – ideal for making detailed, one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces. Once fired in a kiln or with a torch, the clay becomes a solid piece of fine silver you can wear and treasure.
Over two fun and hands-on sessions, you’ll learn everything you need to get started:
Session One
• How to prepare and handle silver clay
• Tips for designing your pieces
• Techniques for adding textures, patterns, and creative details
Session Two
• How to prep your work for firing
• Firing metal clay using both a torch and a kiln
• How to polish, finish, and apply patinas for added character
• A guide to the uses (and limits) of metal clay
• Tools and equipment you’ll need to set up your own workspace at home.
Whether you’re diving into a new hobby or expanding your jewellery-making skills, this course is a great place to begin. You’ll leave with solid techniques under your belt – and a few shiny silver pieces you made yourself!
Your safety is important to us! For all workshops, we ask that you wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair while working with tools and equipment. We’ll provide safety glasses and an apron to help keep you comfortable and protected throughout the session.
